Our History

Yankee Shutter Company has established itself as New England's shutter specialist.
We are a family owned and operated company that is now in its third generation. We have been in business since 1961.

Yankee Shutter has served as the Northeast's premier shutter supplier for over sixty years.
While times have changed and wood shutters have given way to vinyl, the benchmarks of Yankee's business model have remained the same: top-quality products and top-notch service.

In 1990, we began offering vinyl shutters in response to the market's push in that direction. Using components from Perfect Shutters, Inc., we are able to offer the widest variety of colors, styles, and sizes of vinyl shutters in the industry. We are able to deliver most of our products to our local customers in a fraction of the time and at lower costs than the "discount" building supply warehouses.

While there are some truly unique applications that will require personal attention, most of the custom options are available on the website.

Are yankeeshutter.com and yankeeshutter.net related?

Yankee Shutter owns both yankeeshutter.com and yankeeshutter.net and processes orders placed through either website.

Our first website came online in 2000, and was informational only up until 2017.

At that time, we developed an online shopping interface that allowed us to offer our services beyond the borders of New England. As we joined dozens of other online shutter sales venues, our goal was to differentiate Yankee's website from the rest by creating a simple interface that would allow access to the most complete selection of shutter styles and options available in one place. The result was the website currently found at yankeeshutter.net, but unfortunately it was not able to be indexed and was not appearing in internet search engine results. So, the search-engine compatible website that you are now on was developed and we did our best to force a highly custom product to fit into a standard "shopping cart" model.

yankeeshutter.net has an interface that allows a customer to see their shutter displayed on-the-fly based on options selected, and then easily add their desired shutters to a shopping cart.
Additional payment options such as PayPal and Amazon Pay are available through that website.

yankeeshutter.com was created to meet Search Engine Optimization (SEO) requirments, which allow us to appear in web search results.

The connection between Yankee Shutter and Perfect Shutters, inc.

Since 1990, we have been purchasing components from Perfect Shutters, inc. (PSI) to build custom vinyl shutters in our own shop and distribute them to our local market.

Only when we came online with internet sales did we began to have PSI assemble some of the orders and ship them directly for us.

We try to make as many of our internet orders in-house as we can, but sometimes it just makes the most sense to have Perfect Shutters, inc. fulfill orders directly.
PSI will usually handle the less common styles and colors for us, as well as most Premier (one-piece) orders and all custom-painted orders.

Unlike many shutter distributors of ANY shutter brand today, Yankee still builds most of our orders in-house, rather than simply passing the order on to a national supplier to fulfill.
